Ahead of September's Electric Picnic festival, RTÉ 2fm's Breakfast Republic presenters Jennifer Maguire, Keith Walsh and Bernard O'Shea have launched this year's Tour de Picnic charity event.

The Tour de Picnic is seeking to raise funds for the ISPCC (Childline), Special Olympics Ireland and the Irish Youth Foundation.

By signing up to cycle (80km) or run (15km) and reaching the sponsorship target, participants are guaranteed admission to Electric Picnic with full details available at: rabodirecttourdepicnic.com.

Event organiser Brian McDermott said: "Thanks to everyone who cycled and fundraised and to you, the public, for your generosity in sponsorship over the years.

"It's hard to believe that we started with only 30 cyclists six years ago and now we have 1,000 cyclists as well as runners, taking part.

"It's extraordinary what a huge difference we have been able to make to so many Irish people's lives through our charity partners.

"I would also like to welcome our new sponsor, RaboDirect. I look forward to what looks like an exciting partnership ahead."
