Paul McCartney has lent support to a campaign asking people to stop eating meat one day a week in order to reduce their carbon footprint and battle climate change.

His video recording has already attracted more than 20,000 hits. Vegetarian McCartney, has long argued that the meat industry is a significant contributor to climate change. The online campaign is also backed by the McCartney family.

The campaign is running ahead of the UN Climate Summit due to take place in New York next Tuesday 23. World leaders will assemble to discuss climate change.
