President Michael D Higgins ranked second in a 'Most Inspiring Father' poll conducted by Irish Life.

Breaking Bad's Walter White ranked two places above Ireland and Leinster rugby icon Brian O’Driscoll (ranked in joint 6th place) in the poll, according to over 300 Irish fathers surveyed by Irish Life.

Barack Obama (ranked 1st) and Michael D Higgins (ranked 2nd) have topped the poll, with Keith Duffy and Ronan O’Gara following in 5th and 6th place.

The survey also revealed some other interesting insights into fathers in Ireland today including:

- Dad is the most popular name for fathers (52%) with ‘Da’ (11%) and ‘Daddy’ (8%) the other most popular names.

- 27% of those surveyed claim ‘seeing their children grow and develop’ as the best part of being a father.

- 31% of those surveyed would consider a weekend away with their wife/partner as the ideal gift for Father’s Day, compared to just 4% who would prefer a golf day out with friends.

- Playing in the park’ topped the poll as the favourite way to spend time with children (28%) with football being called out as the best game to play.
