RTÉ 2fm has teamed up with Oxfam Ireland to launch a nationwide search for 10 up-and-coming acts to play the Oxjam Stage at Electric Picnic in August.

As part of the competition, a longlist of 30 will be decided by a panel of experts, and then members of the public will vote for their favourite 10.

In addition, the highest ranking act will also play the larger Cosby Stage at the festival and will win a studio session with RTÉ 2fm which will be broadcast on the station.

Head of RTÉ 2fm, Dan Healy, said: "This is a great opportunity for 2fm to partner with an organisation like Oxfam, who make such difference in the world every day. This association gives us the opportunity to support up-and-coming Irish artists on a huge scale, giving the winners the chance to be heard on the national airwaves and at our country's biggest festival, Electric Picnic."

Electric Picnic takes place at Stradbally Estate, Co Laois from August 29 to 31.
