Casualty star Patrick Robinson became the latest celebrity to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing last night making the finals an all-female contest for the first time.

Robinson lost out in the dance-off against former Coronation Street actress Natalie Gumede.

Last night Sophie Ellis Bextor, Abbey Clancy and Susanna Reid all went straight through to next Saturday’s final

On Saturday night’s semi-final each of the couples performed two dance routines.

This was the third time that Robinson and his professional dance partner Anya Garnis faced the dance off.

Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Toniolo all chose to send Gumede to the final with head judge Len Goodman saying he also would have backed the couple.

Speaking after his elimination Robinson said: "I've had an incredible journey, an incredible time, what an experience. Anya Garnis is just an incredible dancer, an incredible choreographer.

"My highlight really may be a surprise, but being in the training room was the place I had the most fun and the most hard work, so being here was just the icing on the cake."

Garnis said to Robinson "You surprised me, you delivered week after week, but more than anything you inspired me so much."
