The BBC is set to film a new adaptation of Choderlos de Laclos's classic 18th-century novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses, according to a report.

Deadline reports that Christopher Hampton is set to adapt it as a drama serial. His previous adaptation of the book as a stage play earned him a Tony Award nomination.

He also scripted the film version in 1988 starring Glenn Close, Michelle Pfeiffer and John Malkovich.

The report says Hampton will work with producers Tony Krantz and Colin Callender on the project for the BBC.
