Keane, the UK soft rockers who scored hits with Somewhere Only We Know and Bedshaped, are parting ways after 16 years.

A representative for the four-piece band said: "Keane are taking a break after the Best Of to pursue their own projects."

The Sun newspaper reports that lead singer Tom Chaplin wants to go solo and the band's upcoming greatest hits album The Very Best of Keane will be their final hurrah.

Keane's main songwriter Tim Rice-Oxley is now believed to be teaming up with other well-known artists. He previously worked with Kylie Minogue and Gwen Stefani.
