Watch The World Cup 2014 qualifier tonight on RTÉ Two at 7.00pm as Germany take on the Republic of Ireland. The affable chef is doing some nice sea bass in a sea salt crust on Kevin Dundon’s Modern Irish Food (8.30pm RTÉ One). Meanwhile, a repeat edition Geantraí is introduced by the late West Kerry box-player Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé, to whose memory the programme is dedicated, 8.30pm TG4.

Bill O’Herlihy is joined by John Giles, Liam Brady, Eamon Dunphy for live coverage of Germany v the Republic of Ireland from the Rhein Energia Stadion, Cologne. Caretaker boss Noel King takes charge of Ireland for the first time and the kick-off is at 7.45pm. Commentary from George Hamilton and Ronnie Whelan and the reporter is Tony O’Donoghue. Fingers crossed.

Kevin Dundon’s Modern Irish Food, 8.30pm RTÉ One

In his new 10-part series – and there is also an accompanying book, fans - chef Kevin Dundon showcases some ingredients Ireland is renowned for, like beef, cheese and seafood and transforms them into deliciously tasty modern Irish dishes. This week, he takes inspiration from the game pantry at Fota House, preparing Wood Pigeon Salad and cooking a scrumptious sea bass in a sea salt crust, served with crushed baby roast potatoes.

Geantraí, 8.30pm TG4

This repeat programme comes from O'Flaherty's Pub in An Daingean, Co. Kerry and was presented by the late West Kerry box player Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé. Among the musicians featured in the programme were sisters Aoife and Deirdre Granville, Úna Maguire, Jeremy Spencer and Seán Leahy, as well as singer Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh. Maidhc Dainín - who was TV presenter Daithí Ó Sé' s father - sadly passed away in August. Aside from being a consumate musician and a proud West Kerryman, he published 19 books, including notably A Thig Ná Tit Orm, which features on the Leaving Cert curriculum as an Irish study text.
