Sky Atlantic has confirmed transmission dates for the second season of Veep and new Stephen Merchant comedy Hello Ladies.

The latter sitcom stars Merchant as Stuart, an Englishman who unleashes his hapless attempts at womanising on the ladies of Los Angeles.

Hello Ladies will launch on October 16 at 10pm, less than three weeks after its US premiere on September 29.

Season two of Veep - starring former Seinfeld cast member Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a largely hapless US Vice President - will launch on the same night, October 16, and follow Hello Ladies at 10.30pm.

The Armando Iannucci political satire – loosely an American version of his BBC show The Thick of It - has been renewed for a third season by HBO.
