It’s been confirmed that the rebooted ITV game show Catchphrase will return for a second season.

Nine regular 45-minute episodes, plus three hour-long celebrity specials, will begin filming in September.

The first season of the revamped quiz - originally hosted by Irishman Ray Walker, but now under the stewardship of Stephen Mulhern - attracted solid ratings for ITV following its re-launch last April.

Mulhern will once again be accompanied by animated sidekick Mr Chips, a survivor from the original show, which ran from 1986 to 1999.

"We were delighted with the first series of the new Catchphrase and we're delighted to welcome Stephen and Mr Chips back with another series," said ITV's Controller of Entertainment, John Kaye Kooper.

Mulhern will also host new entertainment show for ITV called Big Star's Little Star, in which celebrities team up with their own children to win money for charity.
