Liam Neeson and Woody Harrelson are being "courted to star" in Highwaymen, a new drama about the hunt for bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde in the 1930s.

Deadline.com says that the film follows the work of the Texas Rangers who pursued the duo and "focuses on legendary lawman Frank Hamer, who was coaxed by a consortium of banks to assemble a posse".

The film will be directed by John Lee Hancock, whose credits include The Blind Side, The Alamo and The Rookie.

The script for Highwaymen was written by John Fusco, whose credits include Young Guns, Young Guns II and Thunderheart.
