Wildcard Distribution, a new Irish film distributor, has been launched at the European Film Market in Berlin. Life's a Breeze, starring Pat Shortt and Fionnula Flanagan, music documentary The Swell Season, and Cyclone, a new documentary about Barry McGuigan, are among its upcoming releases.
Directed by Lance Daly, Life's a Breeze "tells the story of an Irish family as they search for a lost fortune around the streets of Dublin" and will be released in cinemas this summer.

Directed by Nick August-Perna, Chris Dapkins and Carlo Mirabella-Davis, The Swell Season follows Oscar winners Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová on a two-year world tour following the success of their Oscar-winning movie Once. Cyclone, directed by Andrew Gallimore, tells the story of Barry McGuigan's epic 1985 world title fight against Eusebio Pedroza.
Also on Wildcard's upcoming slate is the Mark O’Connor-directed drama King of the Travellers, which stars Love/Hate's Peter Coonan.
Wildcard Distribution is backed by Irish production company Fastnet Films and headed by Patrick O’Neill, who is leaving Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board after seven years.
Commenting, O'Neill said: "I am really excited to be working with Fastnet Films on Wildcard, and the distribution of these great films. It’s a fantastic slate of films and I’m sure audiences will love them as much as I do. It’s been a great seven years at the IFB, and the staff and Board have provided me with wonderful opportunities. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who works there."
