Jesus Christ Superstar, Andrew Lloyd Webber's touring production of the iconic musical, has had its Irish dates next month cancelled.
The production, which starred Chris Moyles, Melanie Chisholm and Tim Minchin, was also the subject of an ITV reality show to find a male lead for the production before it embarked on a UK and Ireland tour last year.
Aiken Promotions have now released a statement which reads:
"Due to circumstances beyond their control RUG [Lloyd Webber's company] and AEG [promotion company] are rescheduling the Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour. This is due to the enormous demand across the Globe with tours in Australia, Europe and USA to be announced soon".
"Unfortunately, it has not been possible to reschedule the Belfast and Dublin Shows originally planned for 19 and 21 March respectively. Aiken Promotions would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused".
Former Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, who plays King Herod in the touring production, tweeted to his followers: 'JC Superstar dates have moved to October BUT we've added Glasgow + Leeds!! and Yes I will play Herod again. Ben, Tim & Mel are back too'.
Refunds for the Irish dates will be available from point of purchase.
