RTÉ has confirmed that it has officially commissioned a fourth series of Love/Hate with filming set to begin later this spring.

The hugely popular crime drama series is nominated in 11 categories at this weekend’s IFTA Awards including Best Drama, Best Director and numerous acting nods.

Commissioning Editor for RTÉ Drama Jane Gogan said: "I am very pleased to confirm that contracts for a fourth series of Love/Hate have been signed. In advance of Saturday night’s IFTAs this is a good opportunity to wish the cast and crew the very best of luck at the awards and all good wishes going into the new series."

Series producer Suzanne McAuley said: "The entire cast and crew are really looking forward to getting back into Love/Hate mode again. We have a fantastic team in place and are so proud to be nominated for 11 IFTAs. It’s so rewarding to be involved in such a successful project that has attracted an incredibly dedicated following and won critical acclaim as well."

An average audience of 953,000 viewers watched the season finale of the third series on Sunday 16 December 2012, which represented a 56% share of the audience.
