Stephen Spielberg is set to receive the top honour at this year’s American Cinema Editors’ Eddie Awards.
The Oscar-nominated director will receive the Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year trophy at the 63rd Ace Awards in Los Angeles on Feb 16 – just 8 days before the Academy Awards.
A statement from the Ace Board of Directors reads: "Steven Spielberg is a cinematic treasure. For over four decades he has been moving audiences around the world with his unique, powerful brand of storytelling.
"As one of the most successful directors in history, he has brought us beloved films, which have not only delighted us but have been indelibly woven into our cultural fabric."
Spielberg's latest release Lincoln is up for 12 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Daniel Day-Lewis, who plays former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln.
