For the first time in its history, Dublin Zoo is to open early on Saturday February 16 and Sunday February 17 to offer couples a special Valentine's date.

Dublin Zoo says: "On their special date, couples will experience one of the city's most unique Valentine's Day destinations, as it is waking up for the day.

"Ticket holders will gain special entry to the Zoo from 8am where they will collect a romantic breakfast picnic from Haughton House and then experience the early morning sights and sounds of the Zoo.

"The team at Dublin Zoo will host special keeper talks on the courtship, breeding and the exotic romantic rituals of some of the animals."
