Hector Ó hEochagáin's new show Hector Goes kicks off tonight at 9.35pm on RTÉ One.
The four-part series sees Hector travelling across the island of Ireland in a 1979 Volkswagen camper van, delving into different communities in the country.
He told TEN about the series: "They're four one-hour deep documentaries where I've gone into some different communities, some different cultures, some different things that are happening in Ireland and I've lifted up a stone, gone into that world and had a good root around and asked a few questions."
Hector said of tonight's show: "The first one is called Hector Goes Holy and I go into the world of the Catholic Church, into the world of mass, into the world of religion.
"I want to know where we are in this country regarding the whole thing, what's it all about, where's the church of my childhood when we got our throats blessed, when we walked to Cemetery Sunday, where we went to mass and didn't question it, where we sat down and did the Rosary on Saturday night, where you blessed yourself as you left the house, where your mum had the Sacred Heart in the kitchen, are we still there, or is it a thing of the past. Are the parish priests of Ireland a dying breed, and who'll be the parish priests of Ireland in 25 years time?"
Watch Hector Goes tonight at 9.35pm on RTÉ One.
