Two more contestants were sent home on MasterChef Ireland last night after they were set a taste test and undertook an ice-cream masterclass.

37-year-old Jacinta Caraher from Monaghan really struggled last night with the taste test successfully identifying only one out of 13 flavours presented to her and she was feeling under pressure going into the second challenge after the ice-cream masterclass.

For her dessert challenge she served basil and lime sorbet rolled in bee pollen, passionfruit tart with spiced chocolate-coated raspberries. However she failed to impress again with judge Dylan McGrath saying the dish didn’t join and that she really needed to learn how to refine.

The second surprise exit last night was that of 31-year-old Fidelma Boyce who performed well in the taste test scoring five out of 13 flavours but she drew criticism for her dessert after her peach and frangipane tart was not fully cooked with Dylan refusing to taste it.

Both women said they would continue cooking using all the skills they had learned while on the programme.

Just five contestant now remain to battle it out for the title – Sinead, Nicha, Tamarin, Brian and Terry.
