Jake Gyllenhaal has been cast in Denis Villeneuve's thriller Prisoners.
The actor will star alongside Hugh Jackman in the film, which tells the story of a small-town carpenter named Keller who takes the law into his own hands when his daughter is kidnapped.
Gyllenhaal will play a detective Loki, who ends up on a collision course with Keller (Jackman) when he embarks on his own rescue mission, according to Deadline.
Gyllenhaal, who is currently starring in David Ayer's End of Watch, learned about Prisoners while working with Villeneuve on the indie thriller An Enemy.
Prisoners is scheduled to enter production in early 2013 for an autumn release.
