US network ABC Family has ordered a new pilot produced by Jennifer Lopez.

The Fosters - which tells the story of a lesbian couple and their diverse family - will be made by the singer's production company Nuyorican.

The comedy-drama is about two women raising a "21st-century" multi-ethnic mix of foster and biological children.

Lopez will serve as executive producer for the hour-long pilot, with casting details yet to be confirmed.

Lopez is developing several other TV series, including a romantic comedy called Taming Ben Taylor, and Sweet Little 15, a Mexican girl's coming-of-age story.
