Zooey Deschanel has said that it is an “incredible honour” to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award.
The New Girl actress was named as a contender for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series yesterday for the hit Fox show, in which she plays Jess an offbeat women who moves into an apartment with three men.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly she said: ''I wanted to be an actress since I was two years old. It's always been my dream and ambition. This is the kind of moment you dream about.
''Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that I could have this incredible honour and recognition. It's just so exciting.''
She added: ''I have such a great job that's just such an incredible gift, and I always want to be doing the work because I love the work and not for some other reason. [But] it just means so much to have this nomination.''
Taking to Twitter, Deschanel shared her excitement with fellow Outstanding Lead Actress nominee, Lena Dunham.
She wrote: ''So excited for the #Emmys! @lenadunham - what are our nails going to wear?!!!''
