Finglas funny man Brendan O’Carroll is set to become a multimillionaire on the back of his Mrs Brown's Boys BAFTA win – and some smart business.

Following on from Sunday’s win at the prestigious British Film and TV event, the 56-year-old could potentially earn over €10 million from royalties as Mrs Brown goes global.

Co-star Rory Cowen told the Irish Daily Star: “He never relinquished any of it (residual rights) to the BBC. We’re paid every time the show is repeated or shown anywhere in the world.”

DVD sales would add to the comic’s income, and it also means more than a few bob for the cast of the hit RTÉ-BBC joint venture. “We get paid a lot of money,” said Cowen.

“We’re paid once as part of our contract to make the series for the BBC but we are paid every time the show is repeated or shown anywhere in the world – and we’re paid a lot of money.”
