The Voice lost out in the ratings war to Britain's Got Talent over the weekend after viewers were apparently 'disappointed' to discover that the results show on Sunday was pre-recorded.

With the judges wearing the same clothes as they were on Saturday, it didn't take long for viewers to realise that the show wasn't actually live - despite host Holly Willoughby referring to Saturday's show as "last night".

One viewer tweeted: "Guess The Voice is recorded tonight as tweeted last night he was flying to Washington?! And Holly's in the same dress!"

Things were made worse by, who sent out a sneaky tweet about getting ready to make a 'difficult decision' before the show aired.

He told his followers: "Tonight is going to be a difficult decision for me...I hate the idea of sending talented people home...#thevoiceuk"

Almost a million viewers decided to switch over to BGT, causing a huge drop in ratings for the BBC show and a surge for Simon Cowell's show.
