Grey's Anatomy fans have been told to expect a "very different" season finale this year.

Warning: spoiler alert!

In a Q&A session with readers,'s Natalie Abrams said of the finale: "One thing you won't see is another shooter roaming the halls of Seattle Grace — thank goodness. We can't take that level of suspense in a contract year!

"But [show creator] Shonda Rhimes says the May 17 finale [on US TV] won't be as low-key as last year's, in which Meredith and Derek found themselves at odds yet again."

Rhimes told "Last season, we probably had the quietest finale we've ever had in terms of our characters. And I loved everything about it. But this season it's going to be very different from that."
