Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has snubbed Simon Cowell’s offer for the winners of America’s top talent shows to battle it out in a TV spectacular.
Simon Cowell has made it quite clear that he overestimated how well X Factor USA was going to do in its first season. Yes it was hit, but not with the 20 million or so viewers he declared he was going to have.
But it would seem nothing will stop the music mogul for being the top dog on American TV and he has dreamed up the idea of pitting the winners of X Factor against the winners of The Voice and American Idol.
In a recent tweet Cowell said "Maybe the winner of The X Factor Usa this yr should compete with winner of The Voice & (American) Idol in a super final. Just a thought. I'd be up for it."
However Levine, who is one of the coaches of the American version of The Voice, is not a fan of the idea. He told Access Hollywood "Simon’s just so clever. He’s so hell bent on competing with other shows. We’re not really interested in a way... That’s kind of a cool idea, actually, but I’m not so sure we’re totally interested in what everyone else is doing."
"We’re just kind of worrying about what we do 'cause we all know the more we worry about everybody else, the more the quality of what you’re doing tends to suffer. So, we want to just do what we do."
