Former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke has teamed up with the group's Martin Gore to record an album.
The Press Association reports that the duo wrote and recorded the album via email and only met up when it was finished.
Erasure star Clarke, who left Depeche Mode in 1981, said: "I've been getting into and listening to a lot of minimal dance music and I got really intrigued by all the sounds...I realised I needed a collaborator... so it occurred to me to talk to Martin."
Gore said he received the email from Clarke "out of the blue".
"He said, 'No pressure, no deadlines' so I said 'OK'," revealed Gore.
The album will be released next year and will be preceded by a series of EPs released under the name VCMG.
