RTÉ has announced full details of the second annual RTÉ Big Music Week, which runs from Monday 10 to Sunday 16 October.

The week celebrates the music which RTÉ brings to its audiences in Ireland and all over the world; on radio, television, online and onstage.

Among this year's many highlights on RTÉ Radio 1 are a Ronan Collins-hosted concert from the National Concert Hall on Tuesday October 11, where the RTÉ Concert Orchestra will be joined by very special guests Aslan and Neil Hannon; The Mooney Show's search for Ireland's most talented buskers in a live broadcast from Dublin City Centre on Wednesday; a night of live music on Arena on Thursday; Ronan Collins' interview with The Waterboys' Mike Scott on Friday; a live Countrytime concert from the O'Casey Community Centre in Dublin on Saturday and a special South Wind Blows concert from St James' Church, Dingle on Sunday.

RTÉ 2fm's Ruth Scott and Paddy McKenna will feature music from the RAAP/RTÉ Radio Breakthrough Bursaries finalists and will extend their Big Busking Challenge, while RTÉ 2fm's digital sister station, RTÉ 2XM, will feature live performances.

RTÉ lyric fm will feature Coffee Concerts, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Cór na nÓg, the RTÉ Philharmonic Choir, the RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet and Chucho Valdéz and the Afro-Cuban Messengers, among others.

RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will be broadcasting a special series of programmes, Dúchas an Cheoil, with a different musician as guest presenter each evening, live sessions from Kíla's Eoin Dillon and Niwel Tsumbu and a special edition of Cuireadh chun Ceoil devoted to the music of Seán Ó Riada.

Among the highlights on RTÉ One Television are Remembering Ó Riada, music packages on Nationwide and performances by Christina Perri, The Priests and Ocean Colour Scene on The Late Late Show and The Saturday Night Show.

RTÉ Two will feature music programmes made especially for younger viewers, including a second chance to see the talent series Jam and Eye2Eye specials with The Script, The Coronas, Brian McFadden and Mundy.

As part of RTÉ.ie's coverage of RTÉ Big Music Week, RTÉ TEN will feature ticket giveaways and competitions.
