Big Brother's Channel 5 comeback is poised for a royal twist after it emerged the Duchess of York is being courted to appear on the show in a 'six figure' deal, according to reports.

Sarah Ferguson has been made the lucrative offer by the reality show following its move from Channel 4.

According to the Metro Herald, the 51-year-old, who cleared a €2million debt earlier this year, is high on the shortlist for celebrity guests.

So far, show executives are said to have secured eight of the eleven famous faces set to kick off the new series next month - three of which are said to be "big" American names.

A source close to the newspaper said: "They are offering big appearance fees this year to try and draft in some massive names."

The new format is set to begin with a three week celebrity version before rolling into eight weeks of unknown housemates.
