It has been announced that Stephen Fry has been cast in 'The Hobbit'. Director Peter Jackson has confirmed that the popular actor, writer and TV presenter will take on the role of The Master of Laketown in his two-part adaptation of the novel.
Jackson confirmed the news on his Facebook page saying "We are thrilled to confirm that Stephen Fry will be playing The Master of Laketown. I've known Stephen for several years, and we're developing a Dambusters movie together. In addition to his writing skills, he's a terrific actor and will create a very memorable Master for us."
Several other additions to the cast have also been announced with the news that Ryan Gage has been cast as Alfrid, the Mayor's civil servant while Conan Stevens, a former professional wrestler, is set to play an orc named Azog.
The first of the movies is due on screen in December 2012.
