Principal photography has begun in Co Dublin on 'Superhero', the new film from 'Perrier's Bounty' and 'Paths to Freedom' director Ian FitzGibbon.

Based on the novel 'Death of a Superhero' by Anthony McCarten, who also wrote the screenplay, the film stars Andy Serkis ('The Lord of the Rings' trilogy), Thomas Brodie Sangster ('Love Actually'), Aisling Loftus ('Dive'), Jessica Schwarz ('Perfume') and Michael McElhatton ('Paths to Freedom').

'Superhero' tells the story of Donald, a terminally ill teenager who retreats into comic books but finds himself challenged by a psychologist and a new girl at his school.

The film, an Irish-German co-production, will shoot for approximately six weeks in Dublin before moving to Munich.
