RTÉ Television has confirmed that Ray D'Arcy will not be presenting this year's 'Rose of Tralee'.

The broadcaster said of his decision: "I really enjoyed my time hosting 'The Rose of Tralee'. I met some wonderful people in Kerry."

"My circumstances have now changed, however, and any time off is very precious."

"It's a two-week holiday with my family or presenting the show, and my family has to be my priority."

A statement from RTÉ Television said: "We'd like to pay tribute to Ray's entertaining and masterly hosting of the show over the past 5 years."

During D'Arcy's time as host of 'The Rose of Tralee', the show enjoyed huge audience figures, averaging at 776,700 per year.
