The nominations for the 7th Annual Irish Film and Television Awards have been announced.

Nominations in 37 categories, across film and television, were revealed today ahead of the ceremony in February.

Nominated for Best Irish Film are: 'Eamon', 'The Eclipse', 'Ondine', 'The Secret of Kells' and 'Zonad'.

In the running for Best International film are 'Avatar', 'The Hurt Locker', 'Let the Right One In and 'Up'.

In television, the nominations for Best Drama Series/Soap are 'The Clinic', 'Fair City', 'Pure Mule - The Last Weekend', 'Ros na Rún' and 'The Tudors'.

In the running for Best Actor in a Lead Role in Film are Colin Farrell (Ondine), Darren Healy, (Savage), Ciarán Hinds (The Eclipse) and Stephen Rea (Nothing Personal).

The category of Best Actress in a Lead Role in Film will be contested by Janice Byrne (Zonad), Amy Kirwan (Eamon), Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones) and Jade Yourell (Happy Ever Afters).

Nominated for Best Actor in a Lead Role in Television are Gabriel Byrne (In Treatment), Brendan Gleeson (Churchill: Into the Storm), Liam Neeson (Five Minutes of Heaven) and Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors).

The nominees for Best Actress in a Lead Role in Television are Ruth Bradley (Rásaí na Gaillimhe), Elaine Cassidy (Harpers Island), Michelle Fairley (Best: His Mother's Son) and Charlene McKenna (Pure Mule – The Last Weekend).

Academy CEO Áine Moriarty said: "It's a tremendous lineup of strong, diverse Irish production for IFTA 2010 and the Nominees' showcase of work reinforces the fact that Ireland has a superb resource of creative talent, despite the difficult Irish economic year and the knock-on effect to our creative industries."

The 7th Annual Irish Film and Television Awards will take on Saturday 20 February at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin.
