R&B star Chris Brown has been sentenced to five years' probation and 180 days of community labour for assaulting his former girlfriend, the singer Rihanna.
Reuters reports that Brown had pleaded guilty to assault on 22 June and must now also complete a one-year domestic violence counselling programme.
Brown can complete his community labour and the counselling programme in Virginia, where he lives.
He must also stay at least 100 yards away from Rihanna, unless they are both attending a function, when the restriction would be 10 yards.
Brown will return to court on 19 November for a progress report.
