Al Pacino is in negotiations to play Dr Jack Kevorkian, the advocate of doctor-assisted suicide who was convicted of second degree murder in 1999.
The Hollywood Reporter says that 'You Don't Know Jack' will be directed by Oscar-winning 'Rain Man' director Barry Levinson.
Kevorkian assisted in more than 150 cases of suicide and was found guilty of second degree murder 10 years ago after he videotaped a procedure involving a terminally ill man and sent it to the US television show '60 Minutes'.
The 81-year-old received a 10 to 25-year sentence but was paroled last June.
At one stage, Ben Kingsley was attached to play Kevorkian in the film, which has been in development for some time.
