RTÉ announced last night that this Friday’s edition of 'Seoige' will be the last. A new series will not be commissioned for the autumn.

The programme which was previously 'Seoige & O’Shea' is produced by Tyrone Productions and has run for three years. It was originally presented by Gráinne Seoige and Joe O'Shea with Síle Seoige taking over from O’Shea last Autumn.

Steve Carson, Director of Programmes, RTÉ Television said: "The decision not to re-commission another series of Seoige is a financial one, necessitated by a significant shortfall in revenue in the last quarter of 2008 and so far in 2009."

He continued "I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the Tyrone Productions team for their dedication and hard work, and of course the presenters, Gráinne and Síle Seoige, for their professionalism, commitment and polish on live television five-days-a-week. We're looking forward to working with Gráinne next season on some major peak time projects and I'm sure we'll also be working with Síle again in the near future."

Gráinne Seoige said: "I'm really looking forward to concentrating on projects in peak time next season. But I'll so miss working with Síle every day..."

Síle Seoige said: "This year on Seoige has been the most wonderful experience for me - on a personal and professional basis: Working alongside my sister, gaining invaluable experience of live broadcasting five-days-a-week, meeting some really interesting people, being supported by such a great team."
