It has been announced that the newly-reformed Blur are to headline this summer’s Oxegen festival which will be held at Punchestown racecourse in July.
Oxegen promises to be the only Irish gig in 2009 from the acclaimed Britpop group who announced in December that they were to reform.
The gig takes place just a week after Blur’s anticipated Hyde Park comeback gig which is expected to be attended by 100,000 fans.
The band last played Ireland in 2003 with three gigs in The Olympia.
Also playing Oxegen this year are The Kings of Leon, Bloc Party, The Script and Katy Perry.
