David Duchovny has indicated that a second 'X-Files' film is in the works.

This would be a long-anticipated follow-up to the first film, which was released in 1998, and the successful series that ran on 20th Century Fox Television from 1993 to 2002.

The actor said that he and 'X-Files' co-star Gillian Anderson are both set to reprise their roles as as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in the film.

"I'm supposed to see a script next week," Duchovny said, also adding that the series creator Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz wrote the screenplay and that Carter is set to direct.

From 13 August he will star in a new Showtime television comedy series called 'Californication'.
