Barbra Streisand has cancelled her forthcoming concert in Rome but organisers insist that this is not linked to last week's outcry over ticket prices.
Italian consumer groups protested that the tickets for Streisand's concert were too expensive and urged Rome's city government and Italy's Olympic Committee to deny permission for the singer to use the stadium.
The concert on 15 June was intended to launch the singer's European tour and ticket prices ranged from €150 to €900.
A spokesperson for concert promoter CPI said the date was abandoned due to production difficulties.
Streisand plays her first date in Ireland at Castletown House, Co Kildare on Saturday 14 July. Tickets cost from €118.50 to €885.
