Pop legends Sparks have confirmed that their first ever Irish performance will be at this year's Electric Picnic.

The boutique music festival takes place in Stradbally, Co Laois from 1 to 3 September.

Sparks' classic 1974 glam opus, 'Kimono My House', led to huge success in the UK and Ireland, with the single 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both of Us.' To date, they have released 20 albums.

Other acts which have been added to the Electric Picnic 2006 bill include Laurent Garnier, Michael Franti and Spearhead, New York favourites The Rapture, Coldcut Live, Radiosoulwax - Niteversions, disco kings Metro Arena, electro house producers Tiefschwartz and pop group Hot Chip.

The line-up already boasts Massive Attack, New Order, Damien Rice, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Frames, Super Furry Animals and the legendary Blue Nile in their only live performance this year

Tickets for the three-day festival are priced €175, including camping.
