A special edition of 'The View', showcasing Ireland's dance and filmmaking talents, will be broadcast on RTÉ One tonight.

'The View Presents... RTÉ Dance on the Box' features four short films which were commissioned after an open competition.

The four films premiering tonight are 'Buail' (choreographer John Scott, director Steve Woods); 'Why the Irish Dance that Way' (choreographer Ronán Ó Riagáin, director Nick Kelly); 'Match' (choreographer Fearghus Ó Conchúir and director Dearbhla Walsh) and 'Joyride' (choreographer James Hosty, director Margaret Corkery).

Tonight's programme is a joint initiative by RTÉ and The Arts Council and is being broadcast as part of the third International Dance Festival Ireland.

'The View Presents... RTÉ Dance on the Box' is broadcast on RTÉ One tonight at 11.35pm.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights of this week all the films will be screened in the open air at Meetinghouse Square in Dublin's Temple Bar at 9.30pm each evening.

The four films will also be shown on RTÉ Two next week at the following times:

Monday 1 May 11.20pm - 'Why The Irish Dance That Way'
Tuesday 2 May 11.20pm  - 'Buail'
Wednesday 3 May 10.50pm - 'Match'
Thursday 4 May 11.15pm - 'Joyride'
