Events are taking place in cities around the world today to mark the 100th birthday of the Irish writer Samuel Beckett.
In Dublin, actors will read from Beckett's works at the Gate Theatre, while in Paris - where he lived for many years - fans have been laying floral tributes at the writer's grave.
The event is also being marked on RTÉ radio and television. More information is available online at the RTÉ Beckett 100 website.
Events are taking place throughout the month of April to celebrate the work of the Nobel Prize winner as part of the Beckett Centenary Festival. That website is at: www.beckettcentenaryfestival.ie
