The 17th Cork French Film Festival will open in the Triskel this Thursday, 2 March, with César-winning film 'De Battre Mon Coeur s'est Arrêté' ('The Beat That My Heart Skipped').

This year's programme, in conjunction with the Triskel and Alliance Francaise , includes a diverse selection of French films.

The highlight of this year's Festival is the presence of acclaimed French director Bertrand Tavernier for the screening of his latest film 'Holy Lola' at the Gate cinema on Thursday 9 March.

Tavernier will introduce and discuss his film - an account of the adoption process in Cambodia and the experience of westerners in postcolonial Third World - and will take questions from the audience, following the screening.

The Cork French Film Festival runs from Thursday 2 until Saturday 11 March.
