Warner Bros have cancelled '3000 Degrees', a film which was to be helmed by British director Danny Boyle ('Trainspotting', '28 Days Later').

The true-life disaster story about an fire which claimed the lives of six Massachusetts firefighters in 1999 was due to begin filming next month.

The victims' widows and surviving colleagues objected, enlisting the help of firefighters' unions across the US.

Based on the best-selling book by Esquire journalist Sean Flynn, '3000 Degrees' was due to star Ed Harris, Woody Harrelson and Billy Crudup.
