A group of 15 musicians including You're A Star winner, Mickey Joe Harte, have been stranded at Shannon Airport after US immigration officials refused them entry to attend a charity gig in New York.

The group were due to leave Shannon for New York at 10am this morning. They were on their way to play at a charity function in New York next Saturday to raise money for cancer victim Michael Duffy, a native of Letterkenny who needs a series of expensive operations.

However a dispute arose at the US Immigration Point as they were about to board their flight. It is understood that immigration officials claim that they do not have the correct visa documentation to work at the charity event.

Mickey Joe Harte said that they were very frustrated by the turn of events.

He said "we are going out to do a charity gig but are being denied access as people will pay into the event and we did not have working visas."

The group are going to reapply to US Immigration today in the hope they can rectify the situation in time for the event on Saturday.
