The childhood home of the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain has been put up for sale on the internet site E-Bay.

A couple from Oregon City have put the property up for auction in the hope of cashing in on the house's association with the singer.

The two purchased the house last month for $42,500 with the intention of renovating it for sale, but say they had no idea it was once Cobain's home.

Cobain lived in the house for four years from the age of 11, with his father and stepmother.

The new owners have set an opening price of $200,000 on the property. The auction closes on 15 September.
