Dublin artist Katie Holten was named the winner of the annual AIB Prize at a ceremony in Dublin last night.

The award is for up and coming artists and Ms Holten was nominated by Kilkenny's Butler Gallery for this year's competition.

Ms Holten uses diverse media in her work incorporating installation, sculpture, video and sound.

She takes home a prize of €20,000 to cover the publication of a catalogue, a contribution towards an exhibition in the Butler Gallery and an award to help the artist produce new work for the exhibition.

The three runners up – Carmel Cleary (Garter Lane Arts Centre, Waterford), Eva Rothschild (Project, Dublin) and Jim Vaughan (Model Arts & Niland Gallery, Sligo) – each receive €1,500.
