Around 80,000 people are at the U2 concert in Slane in County Meath today.

Gardaí are asking young people attending the concert to use public transport rather than have their parents collect them.

Slane village has been closed to all vehicular traffic until 3.00am tomorrow morning.

Traffic diversions are in operation on both sides of the N2 at both Ardee and Kilmoon Cross.

Soccer fans who are at the gig have already seen Ireland beat Holland in today's big match.

The sold-out concert was interrupted temporarily as the match at Lansdowne Road was relayed on two giant screens.

The match was shown in between support acts Nelly Furtado and Ash and U2 will now begin their set at 8.30pm.
