Jeremy Suffern, from County Down, has won the most prestigious award at the RDS National Craft Competition 2001.
His tower of drawers won him the overall 'Award of Excellence' and a cheque for £5,000.
The event, held at the RDS, celebrates excellence in the field of craft technique and design in Ireland.
The winning pieces will be on display at the Kerrygold Horse Show in August and will then be taken on a tour of the country.
