Lockie's Umbrella By Philip Davison

Brollies can turn into parasols and parasols can turn into brollies. Spring, summer or autumn, the weather in Ireland typically smiles through its tears, so both shade and shelter, light and dark, are called for in tonight's Drama On One, a brief and broken-hearted comedy about early onset dementia. Here's Lockie's Umbrella  by Philip Davison, with Barry McGovern as a poor unfortunate fellow who finds he's astray in himself.

Barry McGovern played Lockie,

Marion O'Dwyer was Lockie's wife Bel

and Pat Laffan his lifelong friend Freddie.

Lockie's daughter Sarah was played by Anne Byrne,

the Charity Shop Owner by Brendan Conroy

and the hospital doctor and the befriender in the street by Kathy Rose O'Brien

Sound supervision was by Ciarán Cullen

Produced by Aidan Mathews.
