Fulacht Fiadh

Stone was also used in Fulachtaí Fia – stone lined pits in the ground where they boiled water by heating rocks in a fire and putting them in the water-filled pit. Archaeologists aren’t sure what the Fulachtaí Fia were used for but the most common explanation is that they were used for cooking.
